About Hawa Mahal

The 'Palace of Winds' is Jaipur's most iconic landmark. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this five-storey pink sandstone façade has 953 small windows (jharokhas) designed so royal women could observe street festivals while remaining unseen. Its honeycomb structure is an extraordinary feat of Rajput craftsmanship.

  • Enter from the back (not the front façade) — the main gate is on Tripolia Bazaar
  • Climb to the top floor for panoramic views of Jaipur
