Peak Season: October – March
The winter months are by far the best time to visit Rajasthan. Temperatures range from 8°C to 28°C — perfect for fort-hopping, desert safaris, and long walks through old cities. This is also when Rajasthan's famous festivals happen: Pushkar Camel Fair (November), Jaisalmer Desert Festival (February), and the vibrant Holi celebrations (March).
Shoulder Season: April – June
Summer in Rajasthan is hot — very hot (35–45°C). Most tourists avoid this period, but that means fewer crowds, cheaper hotels, and an authentic local experience. Udaipur and Mount Abu are cooler than the desert cities. The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels luxury train runs year-round.
Monsoon Season: July – September
The monsoon brings relief from the heat and transforms the barren landscape into surprising green. Rajasthan receives moderate rainfall. Udaipur is especially beautiful when Lake Pichola fills. Some desert roads may be flooded, so check conditions before visiting Jaisalmer in July–August.
